The weekend is almost in sight and I'm already planning out how to best take advantage of the relaxation time. With all the non-stop traveling and fast paced life that comes with careers, a long distance relationship and celebrations with friends, I've found that if I don't take a little me time in the middle of the week, I end up getting overwhelmed.
I didn't get into yoga until after college, but now it's my favorite way to de-stress, unwind and feel good. It seems so intimidating at first to take the plunge when everyone else is already so flexible and doing poses that look like a form of torture. Trust me, go to the first class with an open mind and remember that even the experts were once beginners too.
After a hot yoga session I'm in desperate of hydration and tend to stick with a flavored water.
Deer Park ยบ™ has a handfull of great flavors and I'll often add a splash of the original or berry flavor to a red wine to make an easy spritzer.

Attention Soda Lovers: if you're looking to cut back on soda in your diet this is a great replacement that still gives you a carbonated taste.
How do y'all take a break and feel good mid-week?
xx

Props to you for doing yoga! I keep trying to get into it, but honestly I get bored pretty quickly with it. I wish I didn't because I'd really like to become more flexible, and I hear the mental benefits are amazing as well.

I have started The Dailey Method which is a combo of yoga and barre and I love it. But the best part is meditating at the end of it!
ReplyDeleteI have never done hot yoga but have always been curious about it. I do yoga at home about 5 days a week. Ha, my friend "takes off" every few weekends or so, where she does nothing. She calls it a mental health weekend,

I plan on doing nothing this weekend but lying on my roof deck to soak in the last rays of summer. I can't believe summer is almost over. I really need to start doing yoga. I've only heard great things about it.
ReplyDeleteI love yoga but I have never taken a hot yoga class. It's definitely something that I want to try!

I love yoga, ESPECIALLY hot yoga. It's such a detox. I haven't taken a class in a while, need to get back in. I love how it really helps me keep my dancer flexibility.

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I wish I didn't have such an awkward experience in my (college) yoga! I need to take it up again because maybe not all classes have me sleeping 10 minutes in! LOL
ReplyDeleteGotta keep up with these kids somehow and I hear yoga is an awesome stress-reliever. I do try to unwind with them other ways though: http://goo.gl/B3F0MH
