green monster

For those of you that aren't the biggest fan of veggies, listen up. If you're already a veggie lover (like me) than this is just another bonus for you. When I found out about green monster smoothies a few months ago I've been making them like crazy ever since. They're the perfect thing to whip up anytime you're in a hurry or just looking to get in an extra serving of fruits and veggies.

I know what you're thinking, gross. Spinach in a smoothie? I promise you can't taste it.
There are a hundred different recipes to try but I always stick with my favorite- banana+blueberries.
{Optional add-ins that I like are almond butter, rolled oats, scoop of protein powder}

Blueberry- Banana Green Monster Recipe:
2-3 cups spinach
1/4 c blueberries
1/2 -1 banana
3/4 c milk
handful of ice

Do any of y'all make green monsters?
I'd love to hear your recipes!

  4. Hmm...see my problem is I don't like a lot of fruits either so I can't even cover up the greens with something XDXD GAH!! I suppose I should just suck it up and eat stuff even if I don't like it

  7. I love green monsters! I make them all the time. I found a new recipe on pinterest that looks pretty good but haven't tried it yet. I posted my recipe a while back on my blog. I added some honey and cinnamon to mine and loved that addition.

  8. That heart piece of ice is so cute. I want to do that. But then I would be sad when they melted.

  9. I should REALLY start making these!! Thanks for posting this. Yesterday I made a scrambled egg and toast for dinner because I wanted something fast and I felt so guilty that I actually didn't have one fruit or veggie serving ALL DAY LONG- unless you count the grape jelly I had- which I really don't count that. Headed to get spinach right after work!! Thanks Ashley!!

  16. I love the green monster! I add chia seeds to mine, they're these little seeds you can get at Whole Foods that have a supposed natural weight loss element in them. They're flavorless and I figured it can't hurt, right?
